This 8-part online programme is designed to support Cambridge residents to become more physically active and lead a healthier lifestyle
You will receive access to 8 different video workouts from different local fitness instructors giving you the perfect opportunity to try out a range of exercise styles to see what suits you best
Throughout the programme, you will also receive regular healthy lifestyle tips and challenges from the Return to Fitness team to support you to kick start new healthy habits
Work through the online programme at your own pace, completing the videos at home when it suits you
This course is designed for Cambridge-based adults (age 18+) who are not currently physically active and are looking to become more active and lead a healthier lifestyle. The workouts are designed for beginners. The programme is not suitable for you if you have been advised by your GP or health professional that you should not exercise unsupervised. It is also not suitable if you are currently pregnant or less than 12 weeks post-natal. As part of the programme, you will receive access to a new workout video each week which has been recorded by a local Cambridge-based Fitness Instructor. The workouts include Pilates, Bootcamp, Yoga, Strength and Stability, Strictly Dance, Aerobics, Core and Whole Body Workout. We hope that by trying lots of different styles of sessions, you will find something that you like and continue locally or online.
The programme is completely free to join. This initiative is provided by Cambridge City Council with funding from Public Health England. All participants will receive a welcome email from the Active Lifestyles Team with a link to complete a baseline questionnaire. This is a requirement of the funding and we appreciate your support in completing it.
It can be helpful to have an exercise mat for some of the workouts that involve floor work and some sessions involve small weights but tins of beans work well for this! You don't need a huge amount of space to complete the workouts either, they are designed to be done at home in a small space.
As it is an online-based programme, you will have the flexibility to complete the video workouts at a time that suits you. You will get access to eight different workout videos which you can work through at your own pace. We suggest you don't leave more than a week between workouts. You can also go back and repeat workouts you have enjoyed. Once you start the course, you will have access to the videos for 3 months.
You can start the course as soon as you are ready and work through it at your own pace.
Once you have registered for the course you will get immediate access to the video workouts. Within a few days, you will receive an email from the Active Lifestyles Team with a link to a questionnaire, we really appreciate you taking the time to complete this.
